New hearts= new fruits

So recently I was sick, I had a cold that cost about R1000 to fix- shock horror! I had to go to the Doctor, and for a lot of money the doctor gave me 10 rushed minutes, they were so rushed I could not recall what she said was wrong with me! She briefly mentioned that my infection may be due to my allergies, but there was no discussion (or even medicine) to help with my allergies. There was no dealing with the root, how to actually get my sinus/allergies better (such as healthy eating, allergy injections, sinus clear etc) but just dealing with the symptoms. How often do we do the same in our lives- we see the fruit: gossip, smoking, complaining, envy, lust, pride, doubt etc. but we do not deal with the root (need for acceptance, control, comfort etc). We are so much like the Pharisees, we clean the outside of our cups, while forgetting that it is the inside that makes you clean! "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean." Matt 23:25-26

We like sticking plasters on our brokenness, pretending everything is fine when inside we need a change! God is not like my doctor, He is the Great Physician, He does not deal with the symptoms. He deals with our hearts- but we have to let Him. I mean cut off the thorns of a tree- it will still give you thorns, cut out the roots and plant a new tree and you will get apples! This is a process, which takes time, which hurts- I mean its alot easier to cut off branches than roots. Jesus said " But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them." Matt 15:18-20. Meaning that the root of our problem is in our hearts and that what we do (or don't do) is just an outflow of our hearts, and the law can not fix the wickedness inside- only God can do that! God wants to give us new hearts... Let us allow Him close, let us allow Him to dig up our roots so we can have new hearts, and new fruits! "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26. For only with Him we can have a new heart so we can bear new fruit (John 15:5)

May the LORD bless you with the ability to let Him close so He can give you a new heart.
May the LORD keep you so you may bear good fruit.
May He make His face shine upon you that you may know He loves you as He shows you   the roots.
May He give you peace; complete wholeness- body, soul and spirit.
